Spring at the QVB
*UPDATE* I was invited to come and talk with Linda Mottram on ABC702 Radio about the project. There is a small podcast of the interview HERE.

I was recently commissioned to create a huge installation in the dome of the iconic Queen Victoria Building to celebrate the arrival of Spring.

The brief was ‘florals’ so we came up with a series of elements that combined to create huge sprays that hang over the central void of the building.

This was the biggest job I have ever attempted and there was lots to take into consideration with regards to application of design – it was a real challenge! We used the heritage colours of the building for the flowers and foliage to create a sense of dialogue between the installation and the structure.

Because this job was so huge, we had to get help with manufacturing the objects. I love jobs like this because they really push my skill set and knowledge.
Below >> Some WIP shots at the factory.

The installation is up until the end of October. Next time you’re walking through the QVB take a look!

What a great artwork!
