Saxony Melbourne Installation

Some shots of an installation I created for Saxony Melbourne in 2010.
It will be in place outside the store in Melbourne Central for the next few months (AUG – OCT 2010).

I was asked to  create artworks in response to the quote:
“The shadow is the seat of creativity”Carl Jung

Above: ‘The Maze’ – I love this one! I need to get more shots of it to show it off at its best however. Suffice to say my mind got lost in there while I was constructing this little beauty – And in another plinth the ‘shadow’ of previous project >>> Below: Putting The Crystals together. I had to fly the work down flat and construct most of it on site.

Above: Another simplified ‘Maze’ of sorts. A study in volume and shape really. >>> Below: The Crystals from the cave of the mind.

The works above and below were experiments in folding one piece of paper to create volume and shadow. I mounted the folded pieces onto old glass chemistry rods I found in a dusty junk shop. They are simple sculptures from a simple idea – but I’m enjoying exploring the idea of creating with just one piece of paper.

And a review of the project on the The Age’s Arts page below!

Your use of shape, form and shadow is exquisite which is enhanced by the use of everyday sheets of paper that we all take for granted.

    Best wishes
